“The Mayan year 13.0.0.0.0 has begun. As foretold in 669 AD by the famous prophecy carved into Monument 6 in the Mayan site of Tortuguero, this date signals the return of the “Bolon Yokte Ku” — The Nine Lords of Power. It is therefore, with great reverence, that the Four Horsemen of the Toypocalypse hereby proclaim the return of the Nine Power Lords and reveal the identity of a Tenth who dwells among us and has the power to save us all.”

Four Horsemen Toy Design Studios are proud to announce the return of Power Lords: The Extra-Terrestrial Warriors action figure line!

It’s been 30 years since world-renowned sci-fi artist Wayne Douglas Barlowe originally designed the groundbreaking Power Lords toy line released by Revell. Four Horsemen Toy Design have acquired the Power Lords license and signed Wayne Barlowe as a creative consultant to help bring the Power Lords back in action figure form.

Getting to work with Barlowe on the much-anticipated return of Power Lords has been the culmination of a life-long dream for Four Horsemen co-founder Eric Treadaway. Four Horsemen Studios are currently hard at work creating the new Power Lords prototypes that will be revealed during the Power Lords-themed Toypocalypse 3 Art Exhibit occurring in New York at TT Underground in February during New York Toy Fair 2013.

Four Horsemen Toy Design Studios announce Toypocalypse 3: Extra-Toyrrestrial

Four Horsemen studios are excited to announce the third Toypocalypse show running from Sunday, February 10th – Wednesday, February 13th with a special opening on Saturday, February 9th from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. The show will celebrate the Studios’ newest license: Power Lords the Extra Terrestrial Warriors. We will be debuting all-new Power Lords prototypes and displaying an archival history of the brand. The show will also highlight new reveals for Four Horsemen created properties, Outer Space Men, and some surprises.

With the popularity of last years’ Outer Space Men custom show we’ve decided to follow up this year with a Power Lords invitational art show. We will be inviting professionals as well as all fans to participate in the show. Either 2-D or 3-D submissions will be accepted. We will need applications returned and dimensions of your piece by Friday, January 18th, and the piece in our possession by Friday February 1st. Applications will be available on PowerLordsReturn.com on January 2nd.

DEVALL’S THOUGHTS

I have to say, this is one of the BEST bits of toy news I have personally seen in a long time. Revell’s original toy line is one that I have loved since I was a child. I had an Adam Power, a Arkus and Trigore when I was a kid, and I remember them being some of the most funky and weirdly designed toys in my toy box.

These days, my original Power Lords are lost to time, basement floods and garage sales. But in the past year I’ve found a complete Adam Power and a Drench (minus his weapon) but many others have escaped my grasp. These two figures have a prized place in my collection, standing with other items in a glass case rather than on a shelf.

In my opinion, this line still holds up to this day. The creature designs were amazing, and the action features packed into these guys were something that wasn’t being done in any other toy line at that time if I remember correctly.

And to hear the Four Horsemen were behind these amazing toys, there is NO better toy company or design firm out there today that would give this line the love and respect it deserves. There are a LOT of vocal critics that speak out about this line. But you all know me, I am a hard-core vintage collector, and LOVE these old lines that many people either don’t remember or didn’t like. And this is a line I NEVER thought would come back.

And now that we have 2013 as The Year of The Power Lords, I for one am an excited toy collector and toy reviewer and cannot wait to get these in my hands and marvel at them.

It may not have been the end of the world on December 21st, 2012, but it was certainly the beginning of the year of The Power Lords!
